About This Resource

Welcome to the Ohio Center for Deafblind Education’s professional learning series This IS Communication. This online learning series includes text-based learning modules with embedded media and resources, as well as learning and assessment activities. Each module focuses on important features of communication intervention for students who do not currently have a consistent communication mode or who need to expand their current communication mode to engage socially, behaviorally, and academically and benefit from their educational experiences. Each module includes a description of the practice(s); the evidence-base for the practice(s); implementation strategies for the practice(s); embedded video clips illustrating the practices, where appropriate; links to implementation materials and resources; and, finally, learning demonstration activities for those seeking continuing education credit or micro-credentials.

NOTE: Module content is best viewed in sequential order beginning with This is Communication and following in numerical order.
